Above Knee Prostheses
Transfemoral amputations – also called above-knee amputations can be fitted with either modular or exoskeleton designs. Important innovations have been made concerning the fitting of prosthetic sockets, socket materials and industrially prefabricated prosthetic components.
Today, hydraulic stance phase control makes it possible for users to walk down stairs step-over-step, while electronic regulators help users walk at different speeds by adjusting resistance
Socket is the most important part of the prosthesis. Various socket design has been innovated to balance the various biomechanical forces within a socket & thereby to get near to normal gait.
Prosthetic Knee Joints:
Shreeji orthopaedics has a wide range of knee options like mechanical, pneumatic control, hydraulic control and microprocessor controlled knee joints. Selection of these joints largely depends on individual’s activity level and physical condition.
Every effort made while fitting the prostheses to suspend it over the stump. There are various methods according to the activity level & convenience of the patient.
1. Standrad suspention:
Satandard suspentin with TES suspention belt & socket pressure.
2. Suction Fit Suspention:
This is the best suspention system for the young amputee.
3. Shuttle Lock Suspention:
Along with the socket pressure the prosthesis have auxiallry suspention with the shuttle lock pin with the liner which get locked at the bottom of the socket.
